Initial Challenge

The client envisioned a platform that would facilitate skill-sharing by connecting individuals eager to learn new abilities with local tutors offering personalized, in-person instruction. The platform aimed to support both face-to-face meetings and online classes, fostering community engagement and flexible learning opportunities.

The Method

To design an intuitive and comprehensive platform, the following approach was undertaken:

  • User Research: Conducted interviews and surveys to understand the needs and preferences of potential users, including learners and tutors.​

  • Competitive Analysis: Examined existing skill-sharing platforms to identify strengths, weaknesses, and market gaps.​

  • Information Architecture Design: Developed a structured framework to ensure seamless navigation and accessibility of platform features.​

  • Wireframing: Created high-level wireframes using Indigo software to visualize user flows and interface layouts.​

The Solution

The proposed platform encompassed features designed to enhance user experience and engagement:

  • Tutor Discovery: Enabled users to find local tutors for in-person lessons or opt for online sessions based on their learning preferences.​

  • Profile Management: Allowed tutors and learners to create detailed profiles showcasing skills, availability, and reviews.​

  • Booking System: Integrated a scheduling feature for users to book sessions seamlessly, with options for recurring appointments.​

  • Community Interaction: Included forums and discussion boards to encourage knowledge sharing and community building among users.

My Involvement

As the lead designer on this project, responsibilities included:

    • Research and Analysis: Gathered and synthesized user insights to inform design decisions.​

    • Information Architecture Development: Structured the platform’s content and navigation to ensure an intuitive user experience.​

    • Wireframe Creation: Designed detailed wireframes to serve as blueprints for the platform’s interface and functionality.​

    • Stakeholder Collaboration: Worked closely with the client to align the design with their vision and objectives.
