Initial Challenge

As part of the European Union-funded VALCRI project—aimed at developing a semi-automated analysis system to assist law enforcement agencies in uncovering connections often missed in criminal investigations—the challenge was to design and facilitate workshops that would inspire innovative approaches to data visualisation and user interaction.

The Method

Collaborating with Exipple Studio, the approach involved:​

  • Workshop Design: Developed and conducted inspirational sessions focusing on cutting-edge data visualisation techniques and gesture-based interactive interfaces.​

  • User Guidelines Development: Created comprehensive documentation to guide the design and implementation of advanced gesture-interactive systems within the VALCRI platform.​

  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Engaged with designers, developers, and law enforcement professionals to ensure the solutions met both technical and operational requirements.

The Solution

The outcomes of the workshops and collaborative efforts included:​

My Involvement

As a Service & Concept Design Researcher, responsibilities encompassed:​

  • Workshop Facilitation: Led sessions to inspire and educate stakeholders on innovative data visualisation and interaction techniques.​

  • Guideline Documentation: Authored detailed user guidelines to support the implementation of gesture-interactive interfaces within the VALCRI project.​

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the developed solutions were practical, user-friendly, and met the project’s objectives.
